How to Repair and Restore a Rusted Toy Lamborghini Aventador
Following is a transcript of the video.
Restoration Kamasutra restores model cars to look brand new. This Lamborghini Aventador was found abandoned in a playground. It was covered in dirt and the zinc exterior had oxidized.
The first step is to disassemble the car. It's best to take your time to avoid accidentally breaking anything.
Once the Aventador is disassembled, the old paint is removed. The chemical is corrosive, so gloves and a respirator are required. Afterwards, the paint is easily scraped off.
Next, the car is primed so it's ready to paint. An airbrush is used to apply paint. Typically, two coats of paint and three coats of varnish are applied. Thin black paint is used to add detailed accents.
The doors and wheels are also painted. Mesh is glued onto the body to mimic real-life vents.
All of the interior pieces are submerged in a liquid solution. It removes the dirt and doesn't damage the surfaces.
Then the different interior components are primed and painted.
Buttons and logos add realism to the model. All the sticker logos are made by hand so they're small enough for a car this size.
Even realistic carpet is installed. This is a material called flock, which is made of cotton, rayon, nylon, and polyester.
To finish the interior, the seats are painted and installed. Then all of the interior components are put together.
With the exterior and interior complete, it's time to assemble the Aventador. For the windscreen, plastic is traced, cut, and painted. A hair dryer is used to bend it into place.
On this model, the headlights and taillights were intact, so a polish and varnish were enough to bring them back to life.
To finish, brake calipers are added. They're made out of a clear plastic water bottle that was traced, cut, and painted. Finally stickers are added to complete the Aventador.
